"Charlie. Watch your mouth. Just because I'm not with you doesn't mean I won't wash your mouth out with soap when you come to visit. I remember theses things." A stern, yet loving voice of none other than a mother rung from the cellular phone hung up to the adolescent's ear. "Sorry, sorry. Alright? When I come to visit I hope to see the soap in the bathroom, and not my mouth. Kay'?" A hasty reply came from the lanky teen. "Like I said Charlie. Be careful. I love you," the mother paused to allow a soft sigh. But a din of screams and yells filled the other end. "Crap! The stove! Get it Mel!"
Click.
"Typical." The female grunted, slipping the phone in her jeans pocket. Adjusting her favorite leather jacket, and allowing the brisk morning air to chill the nape of her neck, Charlie took a small step forward. Toes curling from inside a pair of mohogany hued high-tops tennis shoes, the teen was moving faster. Closer to what seemed a laboratory, or research facility.
Knock. Knock.
Left outside in the pits of the morning chill, Charlie Tucker was awaiting her start to a long journey of fun, mischief, and danger. Oh boy.

The door was answered by a Vaporeon. The Water-type gazed up at the new trainer warmly, then stepped to the side to allow Charlie entry into the lab. <Hello! You must be a new trainer! Well, the Professor is busy at the moment, so may I help you?> she asked kindly.
<Oh, my name is Vierna, by the way. And you are?> she added quizzically. Her tail flicked contentedly back and forth, and her bright blue coat shone with a luster that indicated that the Professor must take good care of her Pokemon. [/sub]

Green gaze looked to see where the voice was coming from. Lazy eyes shifted downward where they locked upon the lustrous blue amphibian. Professors are so lazy these days. Gawsh. What ever happened to being greeted at the door? Christ. Walking inside with arms crossed over her chest, Charlie was hit with the even colder temperature of the room. Ick. It was warmer outside.
As soon as the Vaporeon spoke, Charlie's numb expression changed to one of surprise. "Yeah. I guess you can help me. But I dunno since you don't have opposable thumbs and all." Charlie scoffed rather stupidly. "As for my name," Charlie tone and expression had changed dramatically as soon as such a subject took place. "I'm Charlie Tucker. Future Pokémon champ!" Charlie boomed with a hearty laugh and a forceful gaze. "And don't you forget it."
And as soon as her introduction was finished, Charlie was looser and a tad more perky. "Anyways, I guess it's nice to meet you. But I'm not sure if you can help me. Ya' see, I'm staring my journey today. And unless you'll let me take you with me, I'm not sure you can get all my stuff. That is, unless the Proferssor taught you to do that. And if he did, that would be pretty freakin' amazing." Charlie rambled with a cool smile.

The Vaporeon looked a little surprised at Charlie's countenance, but she quickly replaced it with a warm, beaming smile as Charlie lightnened up. <Sorry, I can't come with you,> she laughed good-heartedly. <And I doubt that I'll forget your name, either.>
She walked over to stand by the shelf that was lined with Pokeballs, standing facing Charlie. <And, yes, I can get you what you will need to start your journey. Just tell me which Pokemon you would like, and I'll retrieve it for you. I could even bring out some assorted ones to show you, and you could choose between them. Whichever you prefer,> Vierna said happily. [/sub]

Charlie shrugged. "Suit yourself." Following the shiny, cerulean hued dog, Charlie's eyes wandered along the shelf sharply. "Well... if you have it... I'm going to need a Lucario. Otherwise, I'll just take a Dragonite." Charlie ended with a sigh.
You could easily tell that Charlie was a complete newbie to the whole uidea of being a trainer..
ooc; Sorry, I totally half-assed this. =[

OoC: Oh, that's alright, lol----- Vierna looked slightly confused. <Uh, well, we have a Riolu... the pre-evolution of Lucario... and we are fresh out of Dratini. Um, did you check the list before you came here? There is one on the wall over there,> Vierna replied, pointing at the wall by the door. There was a very long list posted to the wall. List

Charlie glanced at the wall for but a mere second before raising her voice and readied herself to declare which Pokemon she would be choosing. "I'll either be taking the Riolu or the Ralts.. Hrmm. Well I've always wanted a Lucario, but I also want Gardevior too... Decisions, decisions..." Tapping her chin in thought, Charlie eventually opened her eyes with a large, quirky smile bright on her face. "Well I've heard the Riolu's are pretty much impossible to find. And people say that Ralt's are crawling all over the place. SO--" Charlie paused again to push her right leg forward and take a cool stance. "I'll be taking that Riolu of yours." Charlie ended with a final, deep chuckle.
"That is, unless you changed your mind about coming with me.." Charlie finalized with a quick wink.

Vierna laughed at Charlie's final statement. <Well, I would, but I don't think the Professor would be too happy,> she said, joking. She was very fond of the Professor, and got her share of adventure in helping her out. <So, a Riolu it is,> she said, giving a mock bow, also winking to make sure that Charlie did not misinterpret her action. She walked, not to the shelf of Pokeballs, but behind it into a back room. The Vaporeon returned a moment later, carying a Starter Pack on her tail, which was raised into the air, and a pokeball gently with her teeth. She walked back to Charlie and raised her tail even more for her to take the pack. She also tilted her head so it would be easier for the trainer to accept her Pokemon. There was no saliva or bite marks on the ball, so careful was the Pokemon being. Rejected once again by the loyal Vierna, Charlie's persistence slightly slowed. "If you insist." She ended with a mock frown.
Watching the Pokemon leave with such dignity left a smile on Charlie's face. I bet she was a great battler. She seems very loyal to the professor as well. That's how I want my Pokemon to be.
But just as soon as Charlie's daydream started, it ended just as fast. Carefully padding back into the room, Charlie spotted the beautiful Pokemon Charlie had come to respect in the expanse of about eight minutes. Shooting a gaze at the pokeball, Charlie carefully dislodged it from the pocket monster's mouth, and looked up from the pokeball's majesty. "Thanks." Paying no further attention to the items so graciously offered, Charlie immediately sent out the Riolu.
In a flash of bright red, a Riolu materialized, shooting a serious glance towards Charlie then Vierna. With a small grin he relaxed. "Finally."
Charlie's brows shot upward and an adoring smile took place as she lifted the Riolu up into her arms and hugged it until it squealed in surprise.
"Wha- what are you doing?" The Riolu managed, wide black pupils wavering in shock.
Charlie grinned and held the Riolu back so she could send a smile at him. "Well, since I'm your trainer now I was thinking that we should be friends. I'm Charlie. And from now on your name is Cairo. Kapiesh?" Charlie ranted, with a loving smile but with a pushy tone nonetheless.
Cairo thingyed his head in surprise. "Well.. I. Erm. Sure. Nice to meet you Charlie. And the name Cairo sounds fine." Cairo managed with a tight smile.

Vierna merely smiled through the exchange, happy that she was able to help the new trainer. Her mind momentarily wandered to the professor, who was likely on her way back to the lab by now. But, there was something that the Vaporeon felt was urgent for Charlie to know.
<I need to warn you to be careful. There are these people who call themselves The Grim, and they are as bad as their name. They would not care if you got hurt, they may even enjoy it. And they have created these 'Demon Pokemon'. They are Pokemon whose DNA has been mutated. They are feral, wild and very... mad. They will attack you if you get too close to them. They can become more like their former selves if shown love, but they will always be colored Red and Black,> Vierna warned. She didn't want this trainer to get into anything over her head. Dangerous things were happening.
Her expression changed from the serious one she had been wering when explaining about the Grim to a smile. <Well, you can go ahead and begin your journey,> she said happily. Her eyes joined in her broad smile.

Charlie nodded her head as the mood of the room changed for a moment while Vierna explained the situation at foot concerning Team Grim. "Yeah, yeah. Well those guys don't chance again Charlie Tucker. Hah. No one does actually," Charlie boasted with a conceited, bellyful laugh. "but as for those pokemon... I think I'll catch a bunch of those and turn em' good again." Charlie ended with a small smile.
Cairo crawled over to Charlie shoulder and took a seat. "We'll definately be careful. Thanks for informing us Vierna. I'll be sure to protect Charlie. Take care, and send the Professor my regards and thanks."
Charlie looked down at the cobalt dog and grinned madly. "Hey thanks buddy. You've been a doll. Now, I think we're ready to go." Grabbing the items and emptying them into her knapsack, Charlie looked back up and crouched down so she was eye-level with Vierna. "Right then. Well, my offer still stand if you wanna come travel with me. Anyhow, next time you see will be on the T.V. As; CHARLIE TUCKER, THE NEXT POKEMON CHAMP!"
