Kosumo yawned, not only was it getting closer to evening, but he was getting a little tired. By now, he was used to walking around for long periods of time, but all the excitement he had recieved before he left time had depleeted more energy than he thought it would. Glancing around at his surroundings, the male leaned on a tree-- one of the few lining the route, shrugging his backpack from his shoulders. Maybe he could just sit and rest a moment, sketch some of the landscape. It was mostly flat, so it wouldn't be too hard, but it would serve for memory in the future.
With a notepad and pencil, he removed his pokedex-- just in case, as well as his Sandshrew's pokeball. Currently he turned it over in his fingers, watching it carefully, thinking. As if the red and white had somehow caught him in a trance.

A laugh sounded from the tree against which Kosumo leaned. <Are you gonna draw somethin'? Or do ye just plan on lookin' at that thing all afternoon?> A Starly asked from his perch on a branch above Kosumo's head.
Almost as an afterthought, the bird Pokemon flew down and landed on the Trainer's knee. <Meeself, I love art. Everythin' is art, even that bally. But, I'm a meanin' nature! Teh vast plains, endless oceans, even this 'ere tree.> Starly added, his accent growin deeper as he fell into the images in his mind.
<Would ye draw me sometin'? I woul' like tha' very much,> the Pokemon inquired. [/sub]

Kosumo was able to take his gaze away from the pokeball, setting it into the grass next to him and eying the Starly carefully. Brushing pale hair from his eyes, the boy leaned back against the tree, pencil to paper, looking back at the flying-type here and there. His movements were smooth, sometime hard and sometimes light, eventually the picture in question began to make itself clear on the pad.
Giving it one last look-over, Kosu turned the pad around to show to the bird-like pokemon what he had done, which looked like a simple sketch of said Starly as it was perched on his knee. "How is that?" He asked, his voice a monotone.

The Starly stared at the scetch Kosumo had drawn for him, his eyes wide in awe. He turned his head trying to look at the picture from diffrent angles. After a moment, he looked up at the trainer.
<I didin' spect ye'd draw sometin of me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!> the Starly gasped with glee. His words were so thick with his accent and he spoke so fast that he was barely understandable. The bird Pokemon hopped up and down on Kosumo's knee, managing to remember not to dig in his talons.
<I love it.> Starly spoke carefully, making sure that these words were clear. <So, cans-can-I have it?> he asked hopefully. [/sub]

Kosumo gave a small rare grin, carefully tearing the small paper from it's ring binding and holding it out for the Starly to take. At that moment, he remembered one of the most important things, picking the Pokedex from the grass, holding it in front of the flying-type to recieve the information, and let it save into the system.
"I'm glad you like it." The boy said then, putting the device back down as he did.

The Starly took the offered paper in his beak, staring at it a moment longer before carefully folding it up so that it was very tiny. He placed it cutiously under a certain feather on his kneck, making sure that it was indeed secure before turning back to Kosumo.
<Why, of course I likes it! Yer a great drawer, and ye were so nice in drawin it fer me! Most trainers would just attack me hopin te get a new Pokemon to use in battles. How rude can some people get?> the Starly replied gratefully, not bothering to try to control his accent. It was clear enough to be understood.
<I mean, I wouln' mind so much if they'd ask first, or give me a warnin' fore their Pokemon hti me wit' a Tackle...> he added sighing. The bird Pokemon looked around the surrounding area, his gaze looking past the trees and expanse, out toward Rout Two. Of course, even with his superior sight, the Starly could not see the Route. It was still too far away.
The Starly turned back to Kosumo. <I can't accept this witout doin sometin fer you! Is there anythin' that ye'd like?> [/sub]

"I'm not a very good navigator." Kosumo said to himself, taking his Sandshrew's small pokeball into his fingers as he thought. "Maybe you could help me to get as far as the next Route?" He wondered, knowing he could be wandering for days in a grassland like this.
OOC; Dx too short-- sorry.

The Starly took a moment to think about the request. <Sure thing! I used to live in Camsakell Forest, so I could take ye all the way there if ye wanted. The Marshy land of Route Two can be a bit hard to get through withou' havin' te swim half the way,> the Pokemon replied smiling.
He flitted off of Kosumo's leg and onto the grond a little ways away. Then, the Starly took to the sky circling above the triainer's head. <Come on! Unless ye wan' to sit there all day!> [/sub]

Kosumo smiled, standing, and stumbling a little bit. Hesitating t first, the boy continued after the moment and proceeded to picking up his bag and returning the removed items to their origin.
"Lead the way." He grinned, starting off after the Starly.

<Alrigh'!> Starly cried out before flying off, slow enough that he stayed close enough for Kosumo to see him. Occasionally he would do an airborne roll or another such aerial maneuver.
<Bet ye wish that ye coul' do this, eh?> the Pokemon asked flatly. He flew lower to the ground, his beak turned up in what could be a smile.
The sky had grown much darker, signalling the arrival of evening. It was quiet and the area was seemingly empty. The Starly was the only visible living thing, and also the source of almost the only noise. The bird Pokemon seemed unfased, seemed to not even notice. [/sub]

The Route was nice, occasionally Kosumo would spot something and pause a minute as he stood to jot things down, but generally tried to keep up with the flying-type. As it got darker, though, he began to walk slower and have a harder time keeping his eye on his personal navigator.
"Oi! Starly-san!" He called out, stopping in the planes. "If we're not particularly near a city or a pokemon center, I'd like it if maybe I could rest. I do not wish to travel around at night, it's too dangerous." Inwardly wondering if he was near the next route at all, but since he had only just began to walk, that was highly doubted.

The Starly looked behind him at Kosumo. <Yea, good idea! I hardly noticed how dark it was gettin'!> he replied nodding. He flew back to the trainer and landed lightly on the ground.
<So, do ye have any food? Or do ye want me to find ye some?> the bird Pokemon asked, unable to hide the grumbling in his stomach. <I know of some goo' berry trees round here,> he added. [/sub]

Kosumo grinned, "I'll be fine until the morning." He uttered, unattaching the rolled up sleeping back from the bottom of his pack, laying it out. "I really appreciate you staying with me and helping me out, hopefully I won't have so much trouble after we get off this Route, when I don't have my own personal navigator."
The male sighed, laying down and looking up at the stars that'd slowy begun to appear above him. "This' just like when I was doing my research, though. Not much has changed since I've been off the road." Kosumo stopped, since when had he started being so talkative? It almost startled him, he had been a quiet wallflower for so long a time, it was strange.
Maybe there would be more Pokemon around in the morning, that way he could get some training in with other wild types. Even if it wasn't the way that most trainers trained between their Pokemon and others'.

<Okay. I'm gonna fly off, but I will be ba' by mornin'. I gotta check sometin out, and get me some food alrgh'?> Starly said happily. <I enjoy navigatin' ye> he added. The Pokemon patted Kosumo on the arm with his wing then flew off into the night.
Meanwhile, yellow eyes watched from a nearby bush. The leaves rustled for a moment but quickly stopped. The eyes vanished after Starly took off. [/sub]

Kosumo watched the Starly fly off, eyes going back to the sky, but not before they caught another pair from the grasses. Sitting up, the boy reached for his pack, fixing his gaze on the bushes there, finally grasping a pocket and pulling it towards him to pull out his main pokemon's capture ball.
"Okay... not exactly what I hoped..." He muttered to himself, pressing the button on the front with his thumb to supersize it. "Thought I could wait until morning, guess not..."
