With more rustling, the Pokemon finally decided to reveal itself. It slithered into plain view, hissing all the while.
The Ekans reared up so that he was eye level with Kosumo. <So, I'm guessing that you want to battle, eh? Well then, let's get started!> the Pokemon said enthusiastically. He bared his fangs and his yellow eyes glowed inthe darkness. [/sub]

Kosumo let out his Sandshrew then, letting the ground-type look around with a slightly tired look before it fixed itself on the Ekans it faced. Well, at least he wasn't rudely attacking some innocent pokemon, this was much better. "Fault, use Scratch." He ordered.
As commanded, the 'shrew jumped into the attack, claws spread for a sharp Scratch.

The Ekans hadn't expected the sudden attack, nor the Sandshrew's speed in the matter. The attack hit him full on, causing his muscels to coil as a reflex. The Ekans used Sandshrew's closeness to his advantage and curled around her in a tight wrap attack.
<You're a fast little mousey,> he said hissing again. [/sub]

Fault growled, gasping for air from the Wrap he was caught up in. "S-saann.." < This is nothing.. >
Kosumo watched carefully, he had a habit of doing that, determining the situation before he launched head on with another order. "Fault, try to use a Sand Attack." He commanded, and as this was said the ground-type reached for the ground, trying to claw up pawfuls of earth and dirt into the Ekans' view. Maybe then it would be released... or it would probably make the snake-like Pokemon more angry.
Oh well, no turning back now.

The Ekans hissed as the sand hit him in the face, blinding his eyes. He released the Sandshrew and backed up a few feet. <Mousey, mousey, come out wherever you are!> he called out in his snake voice.
Ekans wildly unleashed a Poison Sting attack. The stingers flew out, not aimed very well because of the Pokemon's momentary blindness. [/sub]

Kosumo watched the Poison Sting fling wildly into the air, some of them coming dangerously close to himself. "Fault, use a Defense Curl!" He shouted, and the Sandshrew obeyed. He curled into himself, defense strengthening, poison darts hitting his hardened skin.

Ekans shook his head, attempting to shake off the sand, but to no avail. Finally, in a desperate attempt to clear his vision, he used a Leer attack.
Ekans's eyes glowed bright, eerily red. They seemed to emit some heat, and most of the sand did fall from his face. <I see you!> he said. [/sub]

Fault felt his defense weakening already, as he stood right on his hind feet. The ground-type hesitantly looked back at his trainer, awaiting a command.
"Use another Scratch!" He shouted, and in turn the Sandshrew lept for another attack at it's opponent.

This Scratch also hit the mark, but the Ekans stood his ground. He was weakening, but not out of the fight yet. He uses another poison sting at the Sandshrew.
<You're a strong mousey, but a mousey still. Too bad you wouldn't taste too good,> the Snake Pokemon taunted. He smirked and hissd in a way that sounded like laughing. The smirk was only used to hide his wince. [/sub]

It was too late for Fault to be able to dodge the pins aiming at him, and as he was hit he could feel poison infecting him. The Sandshrew glanced back at his trainer, and they shared a look before the ground-type stood again.
"Another Scratch." Kosumo uttered to his pokemon. Fault was already getting slower from how weak he had become already, but his stamina would allow him to be active for a little longer before he would have to give it up.

The Scratch hit again, hitting harder than normal. The shocked Ekans flew backwards to the ground. He tried to rise, but was too weak. Not one to give in, the snake pokemon reached out with his tail, attempting to catch the Sandshrew in another Wrap attack.
He didn't say anything this time, just hissed angrily and futiley. He knew that he was goin to lose. It would take nothing short of a miracle for him to come out of this battle victorious. One more hit and he would be down.
Meanwhile, a solitary cloud enveloped the moon, covering the area in darkness. It was still possible to see, but only just. [/sub]

Fault struggled in the Ekans' hold, clawing at the ground again in some attempt to grasp it and escape the attack. So far, to no avail. The trainer watched, though it was hard to see in the darkness, he could barely tell what was going on, let alone help his pokemon escape.
"Fault, try to escape it." He managed, stepping forward, hoping to get a better view of the scuffle. The Sandshrew however was much more capable, being right next to his opponent. He clawed at the earth, another Sand Attack to get away from the Ekans' Wrap attack.

The Ekans, unlike the other two, had no trouble seeing in the dark. Yet, he could not hope to dodge the Sand-Attack. He was too weak. It hit him full in the face, making him release his hold. He tried to shake it off, but he could barely move now.
He used Leer, but this time the sand did not fall away, and even blocked the attack. All he could do was lie ther and wait for the Sandshrew's next attack. [/sub]

Knowing his trainer could not see, Fault figured he could fare better if he made his own decision. Seeing his chance, he dashed for the Ekans, claws outstreched for another Scratch.

The Ekans weakly tried to block the attack with his tail, but it was no use. The attack hit its mark, and the snake Pokemon slid backwards a few inches, still on the ground. Everything swirled in front of him, he couldn't tell which way was up.
He tried with all his might to remain concious. He was out of the battle. Looking up towards Kosumo, but unable to see him through the black fog that composed his sight, the Ekans managed one last hiss before falling into darkness. He fainted.
Sandshrew gained a level! [/sub]
