Finally leaving Nirven Town, Jace stepped out on to Route One. It was nice to escape the human establishments, since he found he was more accustomed to the simple wilderness. Besides, out here he could do lots of training. Jace couldn't see an end to Route One, so he assumed he would be here for quite awhile.
He took a brief moment to glance down at the four Pokeballs that hung from his belt. He was quite pleased with himself for building a decent team even before leaving Nirven Town. Even though two of his Pokemon were from wishes, Jace didn't expect to have quite the team before leaving the first town.
Grabbing his Demon Meowth's Pokeball, Jace searched the area for Pokemon with his eyes. He would train Jacan to see if he could get more trust out of this strange Pokemon. Besides, he was the weakest Pokemon on the team and needed to catch up to the others.

The sun was still shining brightly, buckily some of it's intensity was blocked by the few trees around the route. Sometimes a little breeze woul kick up, but it never lasted long.
A few leaves fell from a nearby tree and a chirping sounded from it. A Pidgey took flight and landed on the ground in front of Jace. He looked up at the trainer boldly. <I want to fight you!> he said, or rather, ordered.
<Get back here! Don't do something stupid and stay away from the human!> a frantic voice called out from the tree. Another Pidgey took to the air and began to circle above both the Pidgey's and Jace's heads. She didn't land, but stayed in the air, still circling.
<Mom, I'll show you that I can take care of myself! So, just leave me alone and let me do this!!!> the young Pidgey said angrily.

Jace occasionally had to shade his eyes with a hand from the bright sunlight, so he moved closer to the trees. At least his eyes would get some relief from that bright light and he could even feel a relaxing breeze on occasion.
Jace watched as a few leaves drifted to the ground, hearing the chirping sounds that followed. He stopped in his tracks, glnacing around to see if anything would show itself. Seeing the Pidgey land before him, the male was somewhat surprised that the creature would demand a battle like that.
Just before he was going to release a Pokemon, Jace heard what appeared to be the Pidgey's mother scolding and circling above. After the Pidgey disobeyed her orders, Jace looked back at the Pidgey, then held Jacan's Pokeball forward. Yea, he just hoped the Demon Meowth wouldn't kill this Pidgey... Otherwise, he'd have an angry mother on his neck.
Throwing the Pokeball on the ground, a red light burst free from it, taking the shape of the Demon Meowth on the ground. The insane Pokemon looked around fractically unsure as to where it was. Once he could see the Pidgey though, the urge to attack became overwhelming. Without even waiting for a command from Jace, Jacan sprang at the Pidgey, bringing a set of claws back to Scratch the bird.

The mother Pidgey didn't say another word, but was still very worried. The fact that she didn't trust or like humans was evident when she continued to circle above the two. She seemed ready to swoop down and attack Jace if he trid to do anything more than battle.
The young Pidgey was prepared for the battle, but hesitated when he saw the Demon Meowth. <Whoa, wha...!?> he cried out just before the Scratch attack hit him. He fell backwards, fluttering as he tried to keep his balance. Quickly replacing his surprised and shocked expression with a determined glare.
The tiny bird Pokemon rushed forward in a Tackle Attack. He was going to prove himself to his mother, one way or the other. He wasn't a baby anymore! [/sub]

Jace's eyes sometimes drifted up to the mother Pidgey that was circling above, wondering if the bird would attack him. He had no intentions of doing anything to the young Pidgey other than battle it... or, maybe he would capture it. Well, this battle would decide that later.
Jacan was filled with satisfaction when his Scratch tore at the Pidgey's skin, but it didn't take long until that craving to attack again returned. The Demon Meowth jeered with amusement until the bird Tackled him back. That really seemed to tick him off!
Hissing, Jacan jumped back into the air, with bloodlust glittering in his eyes. Jace was a little disturbed by his Pokemon's desire for destruction, but he thought with enough battles, his Demon Pokemon would lighten up. Jacan grinned evilishly as he tried another Scratch attack on the young Pidgey.

Again the Scratch Attack made contact. The Pidgey had attemted to dodge the attack by taking to the air, but the Meowth's claws raked his underbelly. Wincing, the bird Pokemon rolled over in the air, caught by the momentum of the blow. He crashed to the ground a little ways away and quickly got to his feet.
<I'm not through yet! he cried, a little unnerved by the viciousness of this particularly strange Meowth. And he noted that the Trainer hadn't even given the Pokemon an order. It was fighting on its own. Shaking it off the Pidgey glanced up at his mother. He smiled smugly when he noticed the worried expression on hr face. Something about ticking her of satisfied him.
The Pokemon looked back to the Meowth a moment later, ashamed that he had gotten distracted. He hoped that it wouldn't cost him. With a slightly frightened squak the Pidgey flew towards the Meowth for another Tackle attack. [/sub]

Jacan grinned with delight as his Scratch succeeded again. Mmm, it felt so good to release some of this rage on a little Pokemon! The Demon Meowth didn't even care care about the mother Pidgey circling above. So what if she came down to attack him? He would make sure that the mother Pidgey would end up bruised and battered like he planned her son to be!
" Slow down there, Jacan. Scratch! "
Jace spoke, wondering if that was really needed. There was no chance Jacan would be easing up, and the Demon Pokemon appearently didn't need orders to attack.
Surely enough, Jacan was one step ahead of his trainer. The Demon Meowth was making his way towards the young Pidgey again, using Scratch once again.

A glint of fear showed in the Pidgey's eyes, but it vanished as her put on a brave front. He was not going to wimp out! But, he didn't plan on getting ripped to shreds by this Meowth either. What would that prove to his mother?
The flying-type took to the air again, and this time managed to dodge the Meowth's Scratch. Quickly he turned down and dive-bombed at the Demon Pokemon with an airborne Tackle Attack. He glanced at his mother again out of the corner of his eye, and seemed to smile. Maybe she was right. [/sub]

Jace watched as the Pokemon exchanged attacks with an unchanging expression. That little Pidgey was trying hard to impress his mother, even though he was up against a vicious and uncaring Pokemon that wouldn't mind ruining the bird's life.
The male decided that now would be a good time to capture this Pidgey. It wasn't just the fact that Jace admired the Pidgey's determined attitude - he was probably saving this Pokemon's life.
Pulling out an empty Pokeball as Jacan took another Tackle attack, Jace threw the device at the Pidgey before his Demon Meowth could get another chance to strike. Yea, the mother Pidgey was probably going to be upset by what he was trying, but he was doing this for the Pidgey's own good.

The Pidgey was concentrating so hard on the Meowth that he didn't even see the pokeball flying at him until it was too late to get out of the way. He tried to scramble away, and nearly succeded, but the ball hit him on his wing and he was envelped by the red light and sucked into the ball's depths.
The ball fell to the ground shaking from side to side determinedly, but in close range of the Meowth. The Pidgey's mother, instead of attacking Jace, swooped down and grabbed the still shaking ball. She didn't fly away far, just a little ways away from Jace and his Meowth. <I trust you more than that Meowth you have, and I don't trust many humans. I'm not going to come any closer, but I won't fly away unless I have to,> the mother said understandingly. She seemed to know why Jace had thrown the ball.
<He was right, he does need to get out and take some risks in life, but he went about it the wrong way. He needs someone to watch after him, but still needs to experience some adventure and danger,> the mother Pidgey said. She closed her claws tightly around the pokeball, making sure that no matter how hard her child squirmed he would not be able to escape.
<I believe it is best for him if he were to go with you,> she said, a bead of sweat falling down her face with the effort of holding the rapidly shaking ball. [/sub]

A grin occupied Jace's face when the Pokeball hit the Pidgey, trapping the Pokemon inside. Jacan seemed pretty annoyed that his prey suddenly disappeared within once of those spherical devices. He hissed at Jace angrily, but the male seemed to care less.
Jace was taken by surprise when the mother Pidgey landed on the Pokeball, preventing her son from being able to break free. Well, that was the last thing he expected. He was sure that this mother wouldn't let her child go.
" Don't worry, I'll take good care of your son. I'll train him well. "
Jace assured after the mother Pidgey explained that it would benefit her child if he went along with Jace. The male certainly didn't mind - he liked the Pidgey's determination.

Jacan gains a level, and 3 trust levels.
Finally, the ball clicked in the mother Pidgey's grasp. She nodded, a much more trustful look crossing her face. <Thank you,> she said, a smal tear shining in her eye. She spread her wings wide and flew off, far into the distance.

Jace grinned as the mother Pidgey flew off, then averted his gaze to the Pokeball that laid on the ground. He grabbed the device and released his new Pidgey. The young bird looked around, getting into a battle pose when he could see Jacan again.
" Calm down, Beau. You're part of the team now. Jacan will spare you. "
Jace informed, recalling the Demon Meowth before that Pokemon could get any idea to attack. The Pidgey relaxed, then looked around for his mother. Not seeing her anywhere, Beau grew worried. The bird looked at Jace fretfully, but saw the boy was leaning down before him, with a Potion in one hand.
" Here, you'll need this. "
Jace spoke, spraying the Potion over Beau's wounds. The Pidgey cawed as the wounds stung for a moment, but they rapidly healed and he felt fit for more battling.
" Now, come. I promised your mother I'd train you to be strong. "
Jace added, standing back up and continuing along the path. Beau's eyes lit up and the Pidgey flew into the air. He drifted along side Jace, understanding why his mother left now. So, she was letting him go on his own now. Cool!

It was impossible to tell how long Jace would have to go before he got to the end of the Route, but it was starting to cool down as it got later in the day. There was more noise now. It seemed as if the Pokemon were finally getting active.
A Budew stumbled out from some bushes and onto the path in front of Jace. She looked up at the trainer fearfully, and backed up a few feet. She didn't duck back into the bushes, whether by fear or something else, it was impossible to tell.

Jace saw that this Route seemed to stretch on beyond what the eye could see, looking a little disappointed. Hmm, it would take him awhile just to get out of here. From what he knew, he'd have to go through a forest after this...
As the day ended, Jace grew more tired. He had spent a lot of this day walking, so the physical fatigue was starting to get to him. Ah, he'd get in a battle or two before he stopped for the night.
Beau swooped down when the Budew appeared from the bushes. The Pidgey landed before the Pokemon, puffing out his chest to look bigger and more tough.
" Hey you! Let's battle! "
Beau challenged, with a big and cheesy grin. Jace merely stood back and grinned. Ah, this Pidgey would certainly be fun to train!
