Aeron walked out of town, backpack all tight and his step all peppy. Today he got his charmander but also started his quest to become a famed trainer, "Well buddy it seems we're starting our journey now, lets get us some badges and make ourselves known." His Charmander nodded in agreement, as it was outside the pokeball at the moment, as they kept walking on heading for their next destination.

A girl, who looked to be the same age as Aeron, walked out of a nearby doorway. Upon seeing Aeron and his Charmander, the girl's face brightened and she ran over to the pair. She stopped in front of Aeron, breathing heavily.
"Hello! Name's Holly!" she said offering her hand. "Would you like to battle? Oi, Laura, come out here!" she added, turning her head and directing her yell to the house she had stepped out of.
In a moment a Squirtle appeared in the doorway, and proceeded to rush over to Holly. <Yes? What is it Holly?> the Pokemon asked curiously. Holly smiled warmly at her Pokemon then indicated Aeron and Buddy.
"I was just asking if they'd like a battle," Holly explained quickly.
<Oh, really? I'd love to battle! So, you want to? Feel free to go first!> the Squirtle asked excitedly.

Aeron's blue orbs had been observing the ground as he walked on but as he heard footsteps followed by a voice he looked up. As the girl offered her hand the boy took it and shook hert hand lightly. She was his age and she seemed just as excited over pokemon as he was. The boy's gaze slowly turned to the squirtle which then exited the house the girl came from, it was undoubtedly her pokemon. Her question rung in his head as he thought about it and looked at his charmander, "What do you think Yamchi, you up for a battle?"
His charmander seemed to smile as it got ready, <You bet I wanna battle, let's do this!> Aeron looked back at the girl, a smile on his face, "Sure we'll battle with you." He took a few steps back and allowed his charmander to get ready to face the water type, "Whenever you're ready!" He knew however, the battle was a bit lopsided since Squirtle was a water type and charmander was a fire type but he would fight anyways.

The girl smiled when Aeron accepted her challenge, and she stepped back as well, widening the battle field. She wasn't going to get confident because her Pokemon was a Water-type and Aeron's a Fire-type. She knew that type matchups weren't everything.
Assuming that Aeron wanted her to go first, Holly nodded. "Come onm, Laura, use Tail Whip!" she commanded.
The Squirtle rushed forward quickly, wagging her tail wildly in an attempt to lower the Charmander's defense. <I love battles!> she said happily as she attacked. [/sub]

Aeron was excited, he could feel the butterflies in his stomach building up and Yamchi's nerves were on end as well. Their first battle together, this woul dbe interesting and he wondered how it would turn out, hopefully they would win. Blue orb's looked straight ahead as the squirtle came came rushing at Yamchi, who let his guard down a bit from the flailing tail.
As the squirtle got close, Aeron allowed Charmander's defense to fall, wanting the squirtle to come closer. Once close enough for Aeron he let out a command, "Yamchi, use scratch!" The charmander nodded and ran to the squirtle, its claws rising up and then coming down quickly trying to catch the squirtle with its scratch attack.

The Scratch attack raked the Squrtle's skin, but the damage had been done. The Charmander's defense had fallen. Laura jumped back, awaiting another command from Holly. Holly, however, was momentarily lost, staring at Aeron's blue eyes. They just caught her attention, and kept her trapped there, staring into their depths.
<Holly?> Laura asked, taking a second to glance back at her entranced owner.
Her Pokemon's voice seemed to bring Holly back to reality, and she blushed a deep crimson red as she realized what she had been doing. There was just something hypnotizing about Aeron's eyes. She quickly, embarassedly, averted her gaze and locked it instead upon Laura.
"Laura, use Tackle!" she comanded, her mind now fully back into the battle. She would not gert distracted like that again. The Squirtle looked relieved as she rushed forward at the Charmander, using her body mass as a weapon. [/sub]

Aeron had not noticed the girl's lack of attention on the battle and had missed a golden opportunity. The scratch had connected and things seemed good, though Yamchi's defense had dropped from the tail whip but he was sure they could manage. He wasn't sure how tough his pokemon was yet but this would help him find out. The charmander was feeling rather confident now too, its attack had managed to hit right on target and though the battle had just began he was sure the type match up would have very little effect on the battle.
As the water type came rushing at the Yamchi, Aeron knew a hit would be hard on his pokemon since his defense dropped. But a dodge was out of the question since it was coming a bit too fast for his taste, "Yamchi use growl and brace yourself for impact!" Yamchi let out a growl, trying to lessen the damage that would be done from the tackle and then braced itself fo rthe tackle, hoping the growl would weaken the attack a bit. [/sub]

The Squirtle could feel his attack dropping from the Growl, but she kept rushing at the Charmande for a Tackle.
"Smart!" Holly called to Aeron from her side. This would be an interesting battle. As neither Pokemon knew any attacks akin to their type, type matchups were pretty much useless. She knew though that while a Charmander's defense was lacking, their attack was strong. Likewise, while a Squirtle's attack wasn't high, their defense surely was.
As both Pokemon had already weakened their opponent's weak points, their strong points were multiplied. Both of them were evenly matched.

Aeron's planned seemed to be noticed already, now the playing field was even since luckily neither pokemon knew any other attacks other then the ones they displayed just now, or so he hoped. A water gun now would pretty much have his Charmander against the ropes but he couldn't worry about that very much. He heard the words from the other side of the battle field and smiled a bit, "Thanks, seems like this is gonna be a good battle!" His gaze moved from the girl to the battle, again he would make charmander use scratch.
The tackle had proven to do quite some damage though it was weakened and Yamchi was still in the battle. He was tiring, yes, but the fight was far from over thus far, "Yamchi use scratch once again!" The fire type shook its head and charged at the squirtle, its claws once again coming down, trying to connect on the Squirtle. [/sub]

The Scratch attack again connected with the Squirtle, but she had turned so that her hard shell absorbed most of the blow. Just what she needed was for the Fire-type's claws to dig into the soft flesh of her underbelly.
Holly nodded he approval of her Pokemon's simple action. "Laura, use Tackle again!" she commanded once more. The Squirtle rushed at the Charmander again. She was weakened, but she wasn't any where near finished either. It would take a few more hits to put her out.

The Charmander grew a bit frustrated with the Squirtle as its shell took the brunt of the last attack, he couldn't keep up much longer if the Squirtle used its shell against him like that. He would think quick unless Aeron came up with something. Luckily the trainer had thought up an idea for Yamchi and hoped it would work, it was a bit much but he thought Yamchi sould pull it off. So as the girl yelled her order to Squirtle he smiled, knowing that was coming.
Charmander was weakening but still had some fight in him, Aeron knew that much so he would hope this would yet again even things out a bit, "Yamchi, grab onto Squirtle once it hits you and scratch its underbelly, use all your might!" The charmander got ready and as the impact of the tackle made his teeth rattle, it grabbed on tight and as it hit the ground, it yet again raised its claw and scratched at the water type with all it had, hoping that by holding its shell it could land the strike on its vulnerable area. Oh, how painful... Laura wailed as the claws tore at her belly, having no strong protection to abosrb the attack. The Squirtle whimpered as pain surged through her little body. She wasn't expecting an attack like that!
" Oh Laura! Are you alright? "
Holly gasped, covering her mouth with an open hand. Her Squirtle nodded in response, but even the girl could see that her Pokemon was in a lot of pain. She felt bad for her Water Pokemon, but this was the kind of stuff that happened in a battle.
" Tackle again! "
Holly added, not giving up just yet. One strong Scratch attack wasn't going to discourage her or Laura from giving in. As far as she cared, Yamchi just got lucky with that strategy!
Laura glared at Yamchi through squinted eyes, with determination burning within her pupils. She jumped back a bit from the shiny Charmander, then pushed herself forward, aiming for another Tackle attack.

Yamchi was giving it his all, his defense wasn't the most favorable but he was taking quite the beating. He was so stubborn, he knew he was pushing himself but if he didn't then how would he become a great pokemon? He shook the fear of losing away and set his eyes on the win, he wouldn't lose, no, he couldn't lose. If his trainer's starter pokemon couldn't win a battle like this then who would he rely on? Well there was that new guy he picked up but he had no idea what or who it was, but he would prove his worth. The fire type looked back at his trainer and nodded, ready for more orders though it was visible he was almost out of gas. He knew he was in good hands however, that last move was a great call on Aeron's part.
Aeron on the other hand was way more optimistic. Sure the shiny Charmander was tiring, and quickly, but the pokemon's determination and drive could lead them to victory, he just needed that extra mile from the fire type. He observed the squirtle's moves and knew what was coming, "Charmander! On impact use a scratch and go for the head!" Tackle was a good move no doubt, very reliable and easy to learn. However, it brought the Squirtle close and left it vulnerable once it hit or even more so if it missed, either way he was confident in the charmander. Yamchi yet again braced himself and took the blow, but as the impact landed a claw came flying at the squirtle while it still tried to gain its balance after the hit. If this didn't work, well the match wouldn't be over but they'd need a good plan. [/sub]

Was this Charmander suddenly on a lucky streak? Laura brimmed with happiness as the Tackle attack pushed into Yamchi, but when the miscoloured arm from the shiny Charmander came into view, there was nothing to be happy about anymore.
The Squirtle felt Yamchi's sharp claws rake against her head, where there was no protection at all. A paw quickly slapped itself over the marks that now formed on her head, sulking in pain. Ah, this was getting to be too much now!
" Laura! That Charmander's getting weak! Keep up with the Tackles! "
Holly spoke with concern, trying hard to remain positive. There wasn't much to be happy about though, considering it seemed that Yamchi had the upper hand in this battle. She would need to act quickly to stand a chance!
Staggering about a bit, Laura had to hold her head until the dizzyness went away. Her eyes landed upon the shiny Charmander, but there wasn't as much determination in them. It was more like they were full of hopelessness and shame. She was a Water Pokemon, she figured she could win this without even knowing any water attacks!
Getting ahold of herself, Laura looked a little more ready to fight again. Jumping forward, the Squirtle made the effort to use another Tackle again. Hey, this battle wasn't over till someone fainted!

Yamchi was indeed struggling but that last hit gave him a morale boost. He smiled inwardly as the Squirtle gripped its head, the attack had done its job indeed. Now it was time to finish and Aeron knew this, and judging from the water type's expression it was losing hope, " Yamchi this is it! Try throwing a scratch once again on impact!" The shiny Pokemon nodded and as it took the hit, grunted and swung its claw upwards aiming the belly and head. He was done for sure even if he hit, he was tired.
