Professor Tarei nodded, and then grabbed something that hung around her kneck. It was a cell Phone. She dialed a number then waited while the phone rang. "Yes, Officer Jenny, its Tarei. Could you pease have Abra to teleport us tot he jail? We have a little bit of a load to carry....Yes, I have the locator....Okay, we'll be ready in a minute." she talked, then hung up.
"Quick, get the Shinx Eia. I'll get the men in order," Professor Tarei said. She dragged a couple of the men, so that they were all touching each other. In truth, Cass and Drake already had them so close together that it was really quite easy. Eia ran off to where the Shinx were, a little ways away from the men. They had taken cover there before the explosion, luckily. She returned wirth them just as the professor finished moving the bodies.
"Okay, the minute's almost up," Professor Tarei said, and Eifacky nodded. They moved, and thr professor touched one of the men's arm, and put her other hand on EIfacky's shoulder. Eia held all of he Shinx tightly in both of her arms so that none of hem would crawl out. True to her word, the professor and them were only there for a couple seconds before they were enveloped by a green light then vanished.
Drake had been quiet the whole time, his face calm and blank. On the inside though he was smiling broadly. He had hoped that Cass would go with him, as he really did enjoy her company. When the Professor and Eifacky wanished along with the Shinx and the men, he breathed a small sigh of relief. He hadn't wanted to go to jail, even though he would have went if told to.
"So, we ready to head out?" Drake asked Cass, his smile finally showing itself. "I don't really know these woods well, so I guess that I'll just follow your lead. Unless, that is, if you wanted me to lead. I really don't mind either way," he said happily.
His burn was starting to hurt him by now, and the torn and tattered shirt only made it worse. So, he tore the rag off and threw it to the ground, hoping Cass wouldn' mind. He was well muscled, but not like any body builder or anything. He was relatively skinny and looked as if he was light. But still strong. His muscles were lean and tough, like someone who plowed fields for a living, or did some other strength building work, but they certainly were not bulky.

Cass gave the Professor and Eia a small wave as they disappeared, to tired and sore to do anything else. She giggled a bit at Drake's sigh of relief, and glanced at him in amusement. She didn't think Professor Tarei or Eia would have sent him to jail, with how they acted after the machine had been blown up. They hadn't acted hostile toward him at all! ''Well, maybe a little..' She thought, remembering Eia.
"I don't know these woods at all." Was what she was about to say, but she the words caught in her throat when Drake took off his shirt. She immediately blushed, and turned her head a bit, forcing herself not to look at his chest. 'Make the blush go away, Cass!' She told herself. 'He's going to be shirtless it least until we get to Bolt City, so pull yourself together!'
Cass took a deep breathe, forcing the blush to retreat. "I've never been here before." Cass said, chuckling sheepishly as she rubbed the back of her neck. Despite her best efforts, her cheeks were still tinted red. It was only noticeable if you focused on her face.
"I don't suppose it really matters on who leads," Cass shrugged, wincing slightly. She wouldn't be doing that again. "We just need to get to Bolt City. We both need to heal our Pokemon, and you need to get that burn treated."

If Drake would have looked at Cass's face for more than a passing glance, he would have noticed the blush. In fact, Drake seemed to be trying very hard NOT to look at Cass's face, for fear that she would notice the slight red tint on his cheeks. He did notice the wince, though.
"Man, Cass, you are really hurt. I'm so sorry, I shouldn't have shoved you to the ground so forcefully," Drake apologized, sincerely feeling bad that he had acted so impulsively. Then he paused a moment seeming to think.
"Well, I do believe that maybe I should follow you. I don't know when the rest of the group that was stationed here will be back, and if they follow us I want to give you a chance to get away," he said. He looked around the destroyed camp, suddenly apprehensive.
"I think that we should probably get going. Oh, and watch out for any of the Demon Pokemon. There may be a lot around here, so close to where they were mutated and all..." he added, looking worriedly at Cass. He could never live with letting her get hurt. [/sub]

"Don't blame yourself Drake," Cass warned, smiling playfully at him. "You saved me from getting some pretty bad burns. Besides, it's because you protected me that you got that burn on your back." She said forcefully, impulsively poking him in the chest as if it might make her argument stronger.
It backfired however, when she realized what she was doing. She quickly looked away, red staining her cheeks. "Yeah okay, let's get going. But," She paused, staring at the camp they were about to leave.
"If anymore of those Grim people come, I'm not leaving you to fend for yourself." She grinned and began walking away from the camp. "And I'm sure we can handle whatever we run into." Cass said, looking back at Drake, her eyes alight with determination.

Drake smiled thankfully again, but it did not hide the very real worries he held. He even managed a laugh when Cass poked him in the chest. He too had to hide his head, so that Cass didn't see the blush growing on his cheeks.
"Thanks," Drake replied, truly grateful, when Cass assured him that she would not leave him. "But, I'd rather knock you out and tie you up somewhere where someone would be able to find you than let them kill you," he added, his tone leaving no way to doubt that he had spoken the truth. He didn't want to hurt her, but if it would save her life he would. He had already proven that when he pushed her to the ground to get both her and himself out of the explosion, which surely ould have seriously injured, if not killed them both.
Drake saw the determination in Cass's eyes at her next words, and he found that in that moment he whole-heartedly believed her. They would both be okay, and even if they were attacked, they ould find some way to get out of it.
He smiled at the trainer he had just met, who had already won all of his confidence and trust, when it took so many others years to just gain a bit. 'And even then they usually let me down,' he reminded himself sadly. He didn't say anything out loud, but his face clearly showed his sadness.
He wanted to tell Cass everything, and perhaps he should have. But, he didn't. Not because he didn't want Cass to know so much as it was painful even for him to think about it, let alone tell someone that he really cared about. Because he did really care for Cass.
Drake followed close behind, and almost to the side, of Cass as she walked. They would be alright. [/sub]

Cass blinked in surprise at the fact that he would actually tie her up and hide her to keep her safe. She shook her head, laughing. "But your efforts would be in vain, because then I'd have to come and find you and help you out of whatever trouble you might have gotten into." Cass said, making a mental note to make sure there was never any rope around when she was in danger.
Cass became lost in her thoughts for a moment as she began to think over what had happened in such a small amount of time. She had gained a new Pokemon, almost got killed by a guy who took Shinx, nearly got blown up, tackled, defeated the bad guys, and she'd even gained a traveling companion! This was all of course, in no obvious order.
'And,' Cass thought to herself, 'I may have even gained a... crush she admitted to herself, blushing lightly. She was starting to like Drake, but it would probably stay just a harmless little crush, right?
Cass looked back at Drake, a grin on her face. It was quickly wiped away when she noticed his sadness. "Whats wrong?" She questioned, her concern obvious. She stopped walking for a moment, wondering what was making Drake so sad. "You can tell me." She assured, unable to keep her blush off her face as she stared at him.

Drake managed to laugh a little at Cass's comment, but only for a second before he turned back to his thoughts. He didn't doubt that Cass would indeed do just that.
A lot had happened in such a short time, for both of them. Drake had finally been able to get away from the Grim, and let his true feelings be known. He had found-he hoped-a new friend, and had met people that were nicer to him than anyone had been since he was five-ten years ago. He had laughed and showed his emotions rather than standing stoic.
When Cass asked him what was wrong, he looked at her surprised. He didn't realize that he had shown his sadness. It was just too easy to be open with Cass. And hard to remain emotionless. He stopped walking too.
He opened and closed his mouth several times, trying to find a place to begin. Drake was surprised that he even tried to begin, and even more so when his mouth finally formed words. "I-i... Well, I never wanted to be.... to do..." he stuttered nervously.
Drake cleared his throat. "Well, you see, my father, he..." he began again, this time speaking clearly, if with only a slight quiver apparent. He was cut off though as a Vulpix jumped in their path.
The Fox Pokemon was black and blood red, sort of like the Grims' uniforms. It growled menacingly and advanced a step toward the pair. Drake probabaly didn't need to tell Cass that it was a Demon Pokemon, as it was pretty obvious that it was not normal, but he did anyway.
Drake reached to one of his Pokeballs, his Spinarak's, only to pull his hand back, remembering that Spinarak had fainted. It wouldn't have done much good, he reminded himself forcefully, because his bug Pokemon was no match for the fire type.
Vulpix growled again, and pounced at Cass, only to be hit by a barrage of rocks. Drake tossed the last few that he had found on the ground at the Demon Pokemon. He looked down, but there were not any more nearby. "Cass! I can't fight!" he said to her, even though he probabaly didn't need to asay anything again. [/sub]

Cass waited patiently for Drake to begin, concern etched on her features. Whatever it was, it obviously made him uncomfortable. She observed him, resisting the urge to giggle as she watched his mouth open and close a couple times, no sound coming out. She had been listening intently, so it was a surprise to her when the Vulpix jumped in front of them.
Her eyes widened and she let out a small squeak of surprise. The Vulpix's sudden appearence had scared her! At Drake's confirmation of it being a Demon Pokemon, Cass grew a little nervous. And she mentally went over her current Pokemon, trying to pick one that might give them an edge.
Cass let out a yelp and flinched as the Vulpix jumped at her, preparing for some sort of attack from the Pokemon. When none came, she looked to Drake, letting out a sigh of relief. "Right!" She said, grabbing a Pokeball from her bag.
Taka and Hikao, being grass types, weren't good choices for a Vulpix, so they were out. Skitty had fainted, so all it left was Akina, Tokala, and Ponyta. She quickly narrowed it down and grabbed a Pokeball, tossing it to the ground in front of her.
The Pokeball hit the ground, a red light releasing the Pokemon from within, Akina, the shiny Dratini. Akina quickly looked around, letting out a small squeak of fright when she saw the Vulpix. <Were in a battle Cass?> She questioned, her eyes trained on the Vulpix.
Cass nodded, and pointed at the Demon Pokemon. "Go, Akina! Use Wrap!" Akina said nothing as she quickly slithered forward, attacking the Pokemon.

The Vulpix growled menacingly again, and then launched into a Tail Whip. One of its tails was free, and as it wagged back and forth she struggled to free the rest.
The Pokemon seemed a little like the Skitty had when it freaked out, but this was not in fear, but in feral madness. It seemed too crazy to speak, and it didn't even look as if it cared if it fainted or not. It just wanted to fight. And kill.
Drake clenchd his fists again, feeling sorry for the poor Pokemon. It was his former teammates who had done this to that Pokemon. He dearly wished that he could join in on the battle, to speed things up if nothing else. [/sub]

Cass bit her lip as she watched the Vulpix struggle. She didn't really want to fight the Demon Pokemon, but it had to be done. She would just have to hope she could win as quickly as possible.
Akina grunted at the Vulpix's tail hit her, and she loosened her hold on the Demon Pokemon.
"Akina, use Thunder Wave!" Cass yelled, hoping the attack would paralyze the Vulpix. 'It should work.' She thought to heself. 'Because their so close together.' Hopefully the Vulpix would be paralyzed, and then it couldn't defend or attack. That way the battle would be over sooner.
Akina quickly charged, making sure to stay on the Vulpix. The moment she figured she had charged enough she let loose, releasing her hold on the Vulpix once she had.

The Vulpix stood glaring at Akina, not bothering to move out of the way of the oncoming attack. The Thunder Wave hit her full force, but she moved forward a step so that she was again right in front of the Dratini.
She opened her mouth, tiny flames forming inside, as she prepared to release an Ember attack. The flames never even finished forming, but fluttered and died, releasing a lot of smoke from the Vulpix's mouth.
The Electric attack had done its job, and Vulpix stood Paralyzed in front of Akina. Her mouth was still open as she had not been able to close it. [/sub]

Cass sighed in relief when the Vulpix froze. It was paralyzed. Hopefully it wouldn't be able to move anytime soon, so they would be able to knock it out quickly.
"Akina, use Wrap!" Cass said, nodding her head at the Demon Pokemon.
Akina quickly rushed forward, latching her body around the Vulpix. She quickly began to squeeze, trying to do as much damage as possible so the battle would end quickly.

Being unable to move made the remainder of the short battle hardly a challenge. The Vulpix struggled to regain mobility, but as its strength gave way under the Dratini's tight wrap, it would not have been able to wiggle free if it had been able to try.
She managed to utter another of those wild growls, and then she blacked out. The battle was over, Akina being the winner. The Demon Vulpix's scowl left its face when it fell into unconciousness, and some of the beauty that it should have possesed showed itself.
Akina gains a level! [/sub]

Cass sighed in relief as the Vulpix fainted. She quickly retrieved Akina, smiling as the Dratini slithered up her arm. "You did great Akina!" She cheered, retrieving the Dragon Types Pokeball. "Your getting braver nd braver every day!"
<Thank you, Cass.> Akina mumbled smiling softly at her trainer. She didn't seem to notice Drake, thankfully, as she might've freaked out a bit with his "sudden" appearance.
Cass just smiled and returned her to her Pokeball. The red light enveloped her form, abducting her in a red light as she returned safely to her Pokeball.
Now that the danger was over, Cass stared at the Vulpix for a moment. "Should I catch it?" She questioned, looking over at Drake. Drake, she remembered, only had Paras and Spinarak. A Vulpix might be a useful addition to his team.

Drake smiled relievedly when the Pokemon fainted, glad that it was, for the moment, experiencing some peace of mind. He knew, however, that once it awoke, it would return to it's mad craze.
He nodded to Cass when she asked the question. "Yeah. If it is shown kindness and taken care of, its personality will gradually return to what it was before being mutated. But, the colors and actual mutation will never be normal again," Drake answered.
Drake laughed for a moment. "I hope you have a Pokeball though," he said, letting the sentence hang. His smile returned, and all his sadnes seemed to disappear. In fact, he completely forgot that he had been saying something to Cass, and was now just... happy. [/sub]
