Van rubbed the back of his head awkwardly, a sweatdrop appearing on his face. "I hope not," he replied. "The last repair guy that came in made everything in this gym worse than it had been before he came, so I really don't know what will mess up next. I almost got crushed by a falling gear only an hour ago."
Clearing his throat, Van made his way carefully over to Cass, his senses tuned for the slightest sound that woulod alert him to any danger. "I really am sorry about that. And, if you wish to sue me I suppose that you have every right to. Here, walk beside me. That way, if something malfunctions it will probabaly hit me and not he," he said with a smile when he was standing beside Cass.
"Oh, and, uh, nice to meet you Cass," he added with a laugh. [/sub]

Cass held back a retort. It wouldn't do her nay good to make the gym leader mad. She could save that for after she had her first badge.
She nodded and began to walk along side Van, scanning her surroundings just incase. "I'd sue you, but it would probably interfere with my journey. So I'll forget that little mishap, for now." She said this as seriously as possible. She wouldn't sue him over something that wasn't his fault....
Okay, she might. But at the moment it was too troublesome.

"Okay, I'm glad to hear that," he replied, still a little awkwardly.
They made it to the battlefield. There were some gears ans a few electrical currents going through it, which might make the battle a little more challenging unless Cass could use them somehow.
"You may use the battlefield to your advantage. My rules are a little different than one would expect. We start out with a double battle, and if you can beat both of my Pokemon you will win the first round. Then we will have two single battles, and each of them that you defeat will count as one win. Who ever gets two out of three wins will be the victor. So, you got all of that Cass," Van explained while he left Cass to go on the other side of the field and stand facing her.
"Oh, and don't worry. I did not let the repairman touch ANYTHING on the field, so everything here is safe. Good thing too," he added, smiling a little to lighten the mood. [/sub]

Cass studied the field as she lsiten to the rules. This would be interesting. She nodded once Van finished and walked to her place on the battlefield, mentally going over the Pokemon she should use.
'Ponyta is a fire type, but she isn't very strong, so she wouldn't be a good choice.' Cass thought, biting her lip. 'Tokala and Skitty are normal types, and don't have any special resistances or strengths against electric types. And electric moves aren't as effective against Dragon and Grass types, so...'
Cass reached into her bag, withdrawing two Pokeballs."Well, let's get started then!" She smirked, tossing the pokeballs onto the field with a mumbled, "Good luck."
The Pokeballs fell to the ground, and a redlight desposited the two chosen Pokemon. Akina and Taka.
Akina looked around, her head swiveling about as she studied her surroundings. <A battle, then.> She mumbled, her eyes resting on Cass' opponent.
Taka also looked around, and let out a grin as his eyes landed on Van. <A gym battle, Cass?> Taka asked, although it was more of a statement than a question.
Cass merely nodded and stared at Van, waiting for him to release his Pokemon.

OoC: Oh, Cass, you can switch opponents. Just like in the anime your Pokemon work together to defeat your opponent and they don't have to just attack one Pokemon the whole time. I think I forgot to mention that before.
--------
Van grinned at the two Pokemon. Not really strong against Electric type, but not weak against them either. Good choices.
"Alright then, lets get this thing started!" Van yelled as he threw his pokeballs into the air. The red light shot out to the ground and then disappeared, leaving a Plusle and Minun standing on the field facing Akina and Taka. The pokeballs returned to Van's hands and he placed them back onto his belt.
"Okay then Cass, you may make the first move," the Gym Leader stated to Cass. [/sub]

Cass narrowed her eyes at the two Pokemon, nodding in confirmation that sh had heard Van. She didn't know very much about Plusle and Minun, only that they were stronger when together. She'd ahve to keep them seperated then.
"Akina, use wrap on Minun! Taka, Razor Leaf!" Cass yelled, analyzing the battle, trying to come up with a strategy.
Akina slithered forward, making her way across the battle filed quickly as she prepared to attack the Minun.
Taka followed along side Akina, making sure to stay together incase of an attack. He eyed the Plusle for a moment before attacking her with his leaves.

"Take the hits!" Van called out to his Pokemon. They complied without a complaint. The Minun cried out as Akina wraped around him, but otherwise stayed calm as the Dratini's body tightened around it. The Plusle managed to hold her ground as the first few leaves hit her, but fell back at the impact of the rest.
"Good job, hang tough! Plusle, use your Helping Hand on Minun, and Minun use Spark!" Van instructed.
Plusle glowed with a golden light, gathering some of its energy, then released it. The glow surrounded Minun, filling him with his friend's strength. With a grin Minun began releasing sparks from his cheeks, preparing for a Spark attack. The electricity was imbued with added power from the Helping Hand.
Minun released the Spark at Akina. [/sub]

Cass' eyes widened a fraction when the Pokemon were told to take the hits. He was planning something. It was quickly revelaed when Akina was attacked, and Cass growled. They wouldn't get away with that.
Akina let out a soft grunt as the Spark attack hit her, and her hold on the MInun tightened out of pain and fear. The electricty had hurt, but she would be okay. But she couldn't take a lot of those attacks.
Taka let out a growl as his comrade's grunt reached his ears, but he did nothing, waiting for Cass' order. He did however, keep an eye on Plusle.
"Taka, use absorb on Plusle!" Cass yelled, her mind racing as she tried to come up with a stratgy. "Akina, tighen your hold! Don't let go!"
Akina gave a grunt, which Cass assumed meant okay. Taka said nothing, his eyes closed in concentration as he began to sap health from the Plusle

The Plusle felt more of its energy being drained away, sucked out and given to Taka. Minun let out another cry as the Dratini's grasp tightened and squirmed slightly.
"Plusle, use Quick Attack! Charge into that absorb, straight at the Fanizel! Minun, try to break free with Tail Whip!" Van called again. He knew that though Minun was still pretty much okay, Plusle was getting really weak. He also knew that their abilities, Plus and Minus, had been activated as soon as they got onto the field, but it wasn't changing things much.
Minun waggled quickly, moving his tail violently back and forth. Plusle emitted a white light as she ran forward, going striaght into the brunt of the Absorb. Her speed stopped much more of her energy from being sucked away by the attack. She barreled toward Taka. [/sub]

Akina let out a yelp as Minun's tail repeatedly smacked her, and her grip loosened. She slithered away from the electric type, preparing for her next move.
Taka smiled as he recieved more energy, and he shot a smirk at his unwilling donator.
"Taka, tackle Plusle! Akina, use leer!" Cass called, trying to keeep an eye on both of her Pokemon. She wanted to finish this battle soon, so she could go see how Drake was doing, but at the same time she was having so much fun she didn't want to stop.
Akina's eyes lit up with an eerie red, and she glared at the Minun, slowly making her way toward it.
Taka followed the Plusle as best he could with his eyes for a moment before he charged forward with a Tackle.

Minun backed away from Akina nervously, a bead of sweat glimmering on his forehead. He shivered involuntarily and could feel his attack lowering at the sight of the glowing red eyes.
Meanwhile, Taka and Plusle rammed into each other at full force. The force of both attacks connecting sent Plusle flying backwards to land face down a few feet away. She weakly managed to get back to her feet, scratches and bruises visable on her. Her legs shook with the effort of standing.
"Minun, help Plusle! Use Helping Hand! And Plusle, use a Quick Attack on the Dratini!" Van instructed, an edge of worry in his voice.
With only a slight hesitation, Minun obeyed his trainer's orders. Now it was his turn to have the golden glow that gathered his energy and transferred it to his sister. Many of the scratches worn by Plusle healed as the energy transfer took place. Wasting no time, Plusle raced at Akina immediately after recieving the Helping Hand. [/sub]

Cass smirked a bit as she watched her opponents Pokemon. They were weakening, but so were her own Pokemon. She needed to end this soon.
Taka grunted as he was blown back, and he skidded a few feet. He was definitely injured now. He'd have to be more careful.
Akina's attention turned to the Plusle who was rushing at her, and she was unsure if she should attack Minun, or if she should defend herself against Plusle.
Cass watched the plusle for a moment before she yelled, "Taka, keep Plusle away from Akina! Use absorb! Akina, use another wrap, full strength!"
Taka quickly made his way toward Plusle, concentrating on sucking the health from her.
Akina's attention returned to Minun and she attacked it in a wrap attack, squeezing as hard as she could.

OoC: Cool. My family wasn't able to do fireworks this year... Hope you have fun! ^^ And I apologize. I typed fast too, I have to go to bed now, will be on tomorrow, and sorry if I messed up this post... I was doing it really fast!

Plusle saw the Absorb coming before it hit and she managed to get out of the way and continue rushing at Akina. However, she realized the the Dratini had resumed its wrap too late for her to swerve out of the way to avoid hitting both the Dragon-type and her brother. Minun grunted as Plusle slammed into him, but luckily Akina's body somewhat protected him from the blow.
Both of the Electric Pokemon were exhausted now. Plusle looked to Minun apologetically, then used Helping Hand without waiting for Van's orders. She gathered her remaining energy and gave it to Minun.
Both Minun and Van cried out in surprise and objection. But, it was too late. Plusle fell unconcious, all of its energy used up. Van sighed as he recalled her, but smiled and patted her ball. "You did great, and were very brave," he said.
"Alright, Minun, use her strength well! Use Spark on that Fanizel!" Van instructed to his remaining Pokemon. Minun's cheeks released mass amounts of electricity and he unleashe a supercharged Spark at Taka. [/sub]

Taka yelped as the Spark hit him. He flew backward 7 feet, skidding to a stop on his side. He shuddered, grunting in pain as he tried to get up. After a few moments, he was up again, breathing heavily. He wouldn't last very long.
Akina yelped as the Minun used Spark. She was still wrapped around him, so it had hurt her as well. She recoiled, backing away from the Minun.
Cass eyed her Pokemon worriedly. Sure, the Plusle was out, but Taka was barely standing, and Akina was pretty hurt too. "I need to end this." She mumbled to herself.
"Taka, use absorb! Akina, use Leer!" Cass yelled, eyes filled with determination. They would not lose when they were so close.
Immediately, Taka began to concentrate, intent on sucking health from the electric type. Hopefully Akina's Leer would distract it.
Akina seemed to be thinking along the same lines, as she got extremely close to the Minun, her eyes glowing red as she glared.

Van heard Cass's orders and knew what she was planning. "Hurry, Minun, close your eyes and get away!" he called out frantically. In his shock Minun looked at Akina. Right into her glowing red eyes.
He cried out and stepped back several steps, but not out of range of he Absorb. The attack hit him and zapped Minun's energy away. After being hit by the attack, Minun still managed to stay standing. He growled and took a step towards Akina.
"Can you still battle? Try another Spark attack!" Van called out thinking that Minun could still battle. The Electric Pokemon's cheeks began to spark, but stopped suddenly as Minun fell face down onto the Gym floor, unconcious.
Van stood in shock for a second before recalling Minun. "You did great too buddy. Take a well earned rest," he said to the ball as he replaced it on his belt.
"Alright Cass! Great job! You won the first round! Now for the two single battles! Your Dratini and Fanizel can no longer be used, so you must select another Pokemon. Feel free to make the first move," Van told Cass. He reaced down to his belt and grabbed a pokeball, throwing it into the air. A Chinchou appeared on the field facing Cass. [/sub]
