Cass grinned widely as the Minun fainted, and she jumped up, cheering. "Alright, you guys did it!" She gestured for her Pokemon to come back, and she gave Taka and Akina a congratulatory hug. "You two were awesome!" She praised, retrieving their Pokeballs. "Take a nice long rest, okay?"
Akina and Taka gave a nod, pleased smiles donning their faces as the red light sucked them back into their Pokeballs.
Cass was still grinning when Van sent out his next Pokemon, a Chinchou. "Hm, electric and water type, eh? Alright then." Cass grabbed a Pokeball from her bag and enlarged it, tossing it into the air. "It's your turn, Hikao!"
Hikao appeared from his Pokeball. He immediately studied his surroundings, a curious look in his eyes. He seemed to register the fact that they were in a battle when his eyes fell on Van's Chinchou. <A battle! Alright, then let's go!> He grinned, nodding to himself.
"Okay Hikao, let's win this! Use Leech Seed!" After a few moments, a green seed flew from the bulb on Hikao's back, and it fell toward the Chinchou. ----------- OoC - I think that's how Leech Seed works. I remember Ash's bulbasaur using it in the anime...

OoC: Yeah, Ash used it in battle against either Erika, Koga, or Koga's daughter. Can't remember which, but it did shoot a seed from its bulb at the opponent's pokemon. The opponent was covered in roots or vines that slowly sucked away its hp giving it to bulbasaur.
-----
The seed shot out and hit the Chinchou, sprouting to cover the dual type Pokemon in vines that zapped away her energy. She had no chance to dodge, because her speed when out of the water was close to a snail's pace.
Van grimaced at the effective attack, but silently congratulated Cass on her Pokemon choice. "Smart," he whispered to himself. "Chinchou, use Supersonic!" he instructed loudly.
Chinchou happily obliged, emmiting high pitched sounds meant to confuse Bulbasaur. She flinched slightly as more of her energy was drained away, which only made her Supersonic that muh louder. [/sub]

Hikao let out a yelp at the Supersonic, and he shook his head. He looked around, a bit confused as he wobbled, disorientated.
Cass let out a similar cry, her hands clamped over her ears as she winced. Thankfully what had happened to Hikao hadn't happened to her. "Hikao," She yelled, her hands lowering. "Use Vine Whip!"
Hikao seemed to have heard her, for his vines stretched out. But instead of attacking carefully and precisely, his attack was wild, as if he didn't know what or where he was supposed to attack. His vines moved quickly, hitting everything infront of him at a fast pace.

The Chinchou shreiked at the unexpected effect of the attack, backing away slowly to avoid getting hit by the wild vines. It was only a matter of time, however, until one of them hit him.
"Hurry! Use Thunder Wave!" Van yelled. Apparently he was tying to hit the Bulbasaur with multiple status problems before using a damaging attack.
Chinchou released a shocking wave of electricity at Hikao. The jolt shot straight toward him, and Chinchou could only hope that one of Hikao's vines didn't knock the attack away. [/sub]

Hikao squeaked as the Thunder Wave hit him. The confusion seemed to have worn off, but he now had trouble moving. It was with sheer stubbornness that he began to move.
Cass smiled, shaking her head at her Bulbasaur's stubbornness. I could come in handy sometimes. "Alright, Hikao, use Leech Seed again!" They had to stick to attacks that Hikao didn't need to move very much, at the moment. Leech Seed and Vine Whip were her best bets, and Growl, if Chinchou's attacks were too powerful, would also be useful.
The grass type nodded and concentrated, a familiar green seed sprouting from his back. If the Chinchou hadn't been able to dodge it the first time, it was doubtful it would dodge it a second time.

Being already covered in the life-zapping vines from the last leech seed, Chinchou didn't really enjoy the notion of being hit by another. So it speedily complied when Van told her to use her bubble attack.
The bubbles flew forward and stopped the Leech seed cold. The spewing of bubbles also allowed Chinchou some movement, and she used the force of the attack to propell her behind a gear that was close.
"Awesome! Now, just wait for my signal to attack!" Van called to his Pokemon. [/sub]

Cass watched disappointedly as the Leech Seed was knocked away, but she quickly recovered. They had worse things to worry about right now. Van was obviously planning something, he'd basically said it himself.
Hikao seemed to realize this as well. He was glaring at the Chinchou, suspicious. The Thunder Wave from earlier was definitely beginning to slow him down. He had to be careful.
"Hikao, use Vine Whip!" Cass said, eying the gear Chinchou had hid behind. "And be careful!"
Hikao didn't offer her a nod or anything to show he had heard her. Instead he just used his vines, attempting to attack the Chinchou from it's place behind the gear.

The Chinchou was in a well covered spot but still recieved a few glancing blows from the vines. They weren't very good hits, but they did take their toll. Being a Water-type Grass attacks did extra damage. And above that, Chinchou could feel its energy being sapped away once more by the vines. More health for Hikao.
"Alright, Chinchou, use your spark! Aim it through that electrical current at Bulbasaur to pump it up!" Van ordered. Chinchou nodded seeing the value of the plan, and gathered her energy to unleash the attack.
Sparks flew wildly from his antena, and a ball of electricity formed between them. Chinchou winced a little in the effort, but released the Spark through the current as she had been instructed. It grew larger as it picked up the added energy from the current and shot at Bulasaur. [/sub]

Hikao yelped loudly as the Spark attack connected, and he flew back a good eight feet, his pain filled cry echoing. He hit the ground with a loud thump, and at first it seemed that he had fainted. But after a few moments, Hikao slowly made his way to his feet, grunting and wincing the entire time. He glared at the Chinchou, wobbling a bit. He would have fainted if not for the health he had been receiving from Chinchou.
Cass let out sigh of relief. Hikao wasn't out yet, but they had to make very move count from now one. "Hikao, Leech Seed again!" Hopefully the Chinchou wouldn't be able to see to the seed if it was behind the gear. If it didn't use Bubble to knock it away again, then Hikao would get more health, and Chinchou would be closer to fainting.
Hikao gave a slight nod, and concentrated. It took longer than usual, but a green seed eventually sprouted from his bulb, flying toward the electric and water type.

Chinchou's blast rid it of the vines that she had been covered with. When she saw another seed coming towards her she cried out. She DID NOT want to go through that again. How was she supposed to knock out the Bulbasaur if it kept sucking awasy her strength?
Quickly, almost befroe Van could give the command, Chinchou uleashed another Bubble attack. And missed. The seed hit the mark and she was once more covered in the vines. He health was sapped away, sending her falling to the floor.
Getting back up, Chinchou growled and emitted her loud Supersonic waves. [/sub]

Cass sighed in relief as the second seed hit Chinchou. As long as they were careful, they would win this! With two seeds attached to the Chinchou, Hikao would regain his strength faster.
Hikao grunted as the Supersonic came his way, and he shook his head. He looked back toward Chinchou, the attack hadn't effected him as much as it had the last time. But the paralysis was getting to him. He had to end this. Without waiting for Cass' command he used Vine Whip, his attacks quick but still not as controlled as they should have been, due to his confusion.
Cass nodded at Hikao. He seemed to have good judgment, and he was fighting the battle after all. She would trust that he knew what he should do.

The Vines, even though they were not controlled, hit Chinchou squarely on the top of her head. She hit the ground forcefully, her antena shaking violently from the impact. She weakly got up, or started to, before the recent Leech Seed zapped her health. She fell back to the ground, managing to unleash a couple bubbles before she fainted.
Van stood shocked, but a grin slowly spread its way across his face. He recalled Chinchou, muttering his thanks to the Pokemon before placing it too on his belt. "Wow. I haven't had a battle that electrifying for a long time! You have my thanks Cass," he said with a laugh.
Van then made his way over to Cass, pulling an object from a pocket in his coat. It was a small, yellow, shimmering object. He handed it to her, along with a handfull of money. "Here you go. Its the Boltanic Badge to prove your victory. Also, this is your cash prize of $3,000," he said.
Akina gains 2 levels for Minun, one for Plusle. Taka gains 2 levels for Plusle, one for Minun. Hikao gains 2 levels for Chinchou. [/sub]

Cass watched as the Chinchou fainted, holding her breathe as she waited. Would the Pokemon faint? Thankfully, the answer was a yes. Cass let out a whoop of joy, her grin huge as she rushed forward, picking Hikao up and spinning in a circle. "You did it Hikao!!" She yelled, hugging the Bulbasaur.
Hikao had a wide smile on his face, and he let out a laugh as Cass danced around, obviously he shared the same sentiments.
Cass gave Hikao a final hug before she returned him to his Pokeball, walking over to Van. She accepted the badge and money, and quickly put it away, admiring the badge as she stared at it in awe. "Thank you." She said gratefully, looking as if she might explode with how ecstatic she was. [/sub]

"You're welcome! And, great job on your win!" he said, perhaps not quite as happy, but still happy. "In my opinion, you'll do fine on you journey. I don't believe that any Gym Leader could defeat you, so long as you keep training. Good luck, and take care," he added, offering his hand. [/sub]

Cass took his hand shaking it. "Thanks." She said, smiling. "Well, I gotta go. It was an awesome battle!" Cass turned around and made her way back to the entrance, slipping out the door.
"Well, not I just ahve to get to the Pokemon Center." She thought aloud. But instead of walking to the center, she broke out into a run, eager to see Drake again, and get her Pokemon healed.
The Pokemon Center was soon in sight, and she slowed to a walk as she neared the doors, entering.
